An excellent addition to my Reiki library

I ordered this book from Barnes & Noble recently.  It's very enjoyable.  Only about 79 pages, but included are many pictures of the hand positions from Usui's original handbook.  Also, basic treatments for specific parts of the body are shown, as well as other Reiki techniques for good health.

From the back cover:
Nothing is more authentic than the original
Dr. Mikao Usui developed the Reiki System and founded the original "Japanese Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai" organization.  So what would be more obvious than returning to Dr. Usui's material?  This book will show you the original hand positions from Dr. Usui's Reiki handbook.  It has been illustrated with 100 photos to make it easier to understand.  The hand positions for a great variety of health complaints have been listed in detail, making it a valuable reference work for anyone who practices Reiki.  Now that the original handbook has been translated into English, Dr. Usui's hand positions and healing techniques can be studied directly for the first time.  Whether you are an initiate or a master, if you practice Reiki you can expand your knowledge dramatically as you follow in the footsteps of a great healer.

Questions

If you 'send' Reiki, do you send only to one person at a time or multiple people?

If you are sending just to one person, do you use a picture of them or a type of surrogate (like a bear or other stuff animal) or just write their name/information on a piece of paper?

If you are sending to more than one person, do you write all of their names on one paper or have them on individual sheets?

If you use individual sheets with names and info., do you put them all into a type of prayer bowl, or just hold them all in your hands?

Reiki photographs

Sometimes it's hard to find a video of Reiki that I really like.  Tonight, or I should say this morning (it is well past midnight!), I wanted to add a post to my blog.  Yes, I know it's been awhile.  I was glad to come across this one with assorted still photographs put to some nice music.  I like many of the photos but especially the ones at 2:36, 2:57, 3:11, 3:33 and 3:49.

Reiki is a beautiful thing.

Sand Mandalas

Isn't this fascinating!?!  I used to love to color and I've seen Mandala coloring books in the craft store so  I think I might like to get one!  Yeah, they sell sand there too, but I'm not ready for a project that big!  I think it would be very calming to just color them on paper.

New books!

There are 3 large bookcases in our living room.  Probably 95% of the books (okay, who am I kidding, 99%) are mine.  Included are about 10 or so Reiki books.
These are the latest 2 that I purchased and I'm really glad I did.  The blue one, 'The Hayashi Reiki Manual' has a wonderful large sequence of photos showing various hand positions and assorted treatments for various illnesses and ailments.  The book focuses on Chujiro Hayashi, the famous student of Mikao Usui, and his techniques.  It's co-authored by Tadao Yamaguchi (the son of a woman initiated to Reiki by Hayashi Sensei) and Frank Arjava Petter, the first to bring traditional Reiki from Japan to the West after training with Tadao and his mother.

The red book, 'Light on the Origins of REIKI' is simply... delightful!  Learning about the mother and son who founded the 'Jikiden Reiki Institute' and their experiences has been such a pleasure.  I haven't finished it, but what I have read so-far has really touched me.  Taking a step back in time, learning about the traditional ways and practices of Usui and Hayashi is important to me.  When I start teaching, I definitely would like to share some of this information.

Do you read alot?  If so, what are your favorite type books to buy or borrow?  Do you have any good Reiki ones?

Demo of Meridian Tapping Points

I have worked with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) on different occasions and have found it to be very interesting.   What Dr. Carrington says in this video about how people touch various parts of their body for comfort is very true.  Of course, we learn that in Reiki too.  As Mikao Usui was running back down from Mt. Kurama and injured his toe, he laid his hand on it and found relief.  And ever since, his discoveries and teachings have helped millions of people throughout the entire world.
As different people respond to different things, it's nice to explore other modalities too, isn't it?  One good thing really can lead to another!
I have seen local workshop/classes for EFT in the past so I hope when they are running again I'll be able to attend one.

Are you familiar with EFT, and if so, have you used it with success on yourself or with others?

Tina Turner Chant "Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo"

I recently saw an old episode of Larry King with Tina Turner as his guest.  I didn't know that she converted to Buddhism.  Hearing her chant there and in this video was very interesting.  Of course she has always had a powerful voice so it's no wonder she  could go this route with it.   Now,  I  can't sing to save my life, but chanting is something I think anyone can train themselves to do a little bit of.   Still, it might be strange for my family to hear me do this so I may have to practice during the alone time of my morning bath.  But the point is... try it!  I think there is something quite fascinating about chanting.

The Reiki III class was most excellent!

I was feeling quite happy and blessed when I received my Master certificate in Reiki.

I enjoyed the time I spent with Master Teacher Elsie and another student, Peggy.  Since it was just the 3 of us, the class felt very personal and intimate.  It was like that when I was attuned to the first two levels too, so it's nice it was similar that way.

I'm certainly not ready to teach just yet.  I want to take my time getting used to the attunement, thinking about how I might like to proceed, reading, practicing, just staying connected to the energy and letting it guide me, etc.  But to have teaching as an option now is very satisfying (okay, I'm nervous about it too) and I'm grateful things worked out so that I could take the class.

Reiki III

Awhile back, I began thinking about whether or not I should take the Reiki III Master Teacher class.  I mentioned it to the Master who trained me in Levels I and II when we spoke sometime last year and she was going to get in touch with some of her other Level II practitioners and see if they had interest in a class.  Unfortunately, I didn't hear back from her after that.  She works full-time in another field and we do not live near each other so it was easy to lose contact.

At a lecture last month, I mentioned that I am still interested in taking the class and a few ladies recommended someone they knew and respected and one of the them put us in touch.   I had already heard of this woman because she teaches at a local college and I get their course booklets from time to time so I had bookmarked the page and set it aside.  Turns out, that class was to be on the same day as a craft fair I have booked so I inquired about other classes and she had one running two weekends ago which I registered and paid for but unfortunately the facility had to cancel the class.  No worries though, we have stayed in touch and she is now planning to teach the class at her office the beginning of next month.  Myself, another woman, and possibly a third will be in attendance.  I am really looking forward to it!  As they say.... all good things come to those who wait.

New jewelry

When I open my Etsy store again, I'll be including a section for handmade jewelry infused with the energy of Reiki.   I'm hoping to do an assortment of styles with birthstone and chakra colors, gemstones, etc.
The first picture is a pair of earrings created with Bali silver squares, Sterling silver ear wires, metal pins, and two colors of Swarovski crystals... violet and violet opal.
Use violet for work with the Crown chakra.
Sterling silver enhances and unites the energies of gemstones it is worn with and also helps cleanse the body.  It aids in emotional and hormonal imbalances and is good for neutralizing negativity.  Ruled by the Moon.
Purples are good to wear for those seeking spiritual fulfillment.  Violet is the color of purpose and aids in creativity.  It's both calming and energizing, depending on the situation and what is needed.  Helps one connect with their higher self.  A very spiritual color.

The next pair of earrings also have Sterling silver ear wires, metal pins, glass beads, and clear Swarovski crystals, but these feature a large black onyx bead on each.  Black onyx is a grounding stone that is good for centering and balance and helps one focus their attention.  Protects against negativity.  Onyx is also the 7th anniversary gemstone.

When they are eventually purchased I'll give them Reiki again before mailing and hope the recipient will feel peaceful and loved while wearing them.

Aside from yourself, or a pet, or a client, what else do you give Reiki to?
