Reiki for Rev

'Rev' is a mix of Rhodesian Ridgeback and Black Lab. We rescued that skinny, scared puppy years ago.
Since then, Rev's become quite happy and content with his new life.   He is, however, very protective of us and not comfortable with children so we do take care.  And occasionally, he has some fear creep in, especially of the Vet.  One time when my husband took him for a checkup, the doctor got frustrated with Rev's attitude and couldn't complete the exam.  Dog whisperer, he was not.  ;)    Quite awhile went by and he needed to be seen again ... updated shots, nails clipped.  OH MY ... what to do?!

REIKI to the rescue!

I told my husband that I would work with him before the appointment and see if he would respond enough to be seen.  I offered him Reiki at our house, in the car while on the way, and at the Vet's office.
While he wasn't interested in making friends with anyone there, he was atleast able to be examined ... this time by one of the other doctors, who was also a Reiki practitioner!   We agreed that Rev's appointment went as well as it did because of the Reiki.

This is a picture I took of him after he got home from that appointment.  I'd say he was feeling very relaxed.

Three videos

Each of these videos show different Reiki sessions/techniques.

The first is an outdoor treatment. I've never had one, have you? It looks like the practitioner is using good padding so her client has some comfort while lying on the ground. Personally, I wouldn't be able offer a session like this because I cannot sit in the crossed legs position, however, using a massage table it might be quite nice to give or receive Reiki in nature on a perfect weather day. Under a bright, full moon would be cool too.

The second sample has an artful flair to it. I kind of like the gauzy effect. The music, while a little fast for an actual session, I think is neat for the video. I think it's fine to use music during a session. Do you?

If I were the person receiving the treatment at that practitioners studio, I would prefer that the blinds be drawn. If you are seeing clients, are you able to offer them a choice on the lighting of the room? Do you have any preference personally?

In this last video, the practitioner shares her use of Vocal Sound Therapy in a session. Since I've never experienced a treatment like that I don't know if it would resonate with me in a positive way or not. Interesting though, isn't it?

Thank you for visiting!

I hope your day is enjoyable.
